10. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
We use cookies and similar technologies to enable essential platform features, analyze usage, and deliver relevant content. OpenVenue groups cookies into three categories:
- Essential cookies — required for core site functionality such as authentication, navigation, and security. These are always active.
- Analytics cookies — help us understand how visitors interact with the platform so we can improve the experience. Loaded only after you grant analytics consent.
- Advertising cookies — used by Google AdSense and similar providers to display relevant ads on free venue listings. Loaded only after you grant advertising consent.
When you first visit OpenVenue, a consent banner lets you choose which optional cookie categories to enable. Your preference is stored in first-party browser local storage so it persists across sessions. You can change your preference at any time by clearing your browser's local storage for this site and refreshing the page.
Disabling optional cookies may limit certain functionalities, such as personalized ad delivery or usage analytics.
11. Advertising on Free Listings
OpenVenue displays third-party advertisements on venue listing pages that are on the free subscription tier. Advertisements are served by Google AdSense and are clearly labelled as sponsored content. Ads are never placed inside venue titles, hero images, primary descriptions, or structured data.
The AdSense script is loaded only after you explicitly grant advertising consent through the cookie banner. If you do not grant consent, no advertising cookies are set and no ad content is loaded.
Venue owners on paid subscription tiers (Enhanced or Full Suite) have ads fully disabled on their listing pages.
Google's use of advertising cookies is governed by the Google Privacy Policy. You may opt out of personalized advertising at Google Ads Settings.
